Questions

Which rest areas are open all night?

Tennessee lists restrooms and vending available at all times at 19 of its 35 stops. Georgia lists restrooms open 24 hours at its 16 rest areas, with attendants 7 AM to 11 PM. The I-40 Welcome Center in Memphis closes each evening, but its restrooms and vending stay available.

Which stops have a family restroom or an adult changing table?

15 Tennessee listings name a family restroom, and 11 of those also list an adult changing table. No Alabama, Georgia or Kentucky listing mentions either. That means unknown, not no.

Where can I stop for a picnic?

19 Alabama rest areas list picnic facilities along with restrooms and vending. The other states' listings don't mention picnic areas, so check the state page.

When are the welcome centers staffed?

Georgia's 9 visitor information centers list 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM daily. The Columbus, Georgia center says it's closed Sunday and Monday for now. Tennessee has 16 welcome centers, and the 8 Kentucky welcome centers list maps and travel information. Call ahead for hours, because the Kentucky listings don't link to an official page yet.

Does this directory show which rest areas are closed?

Only when the state page said so when the listing was made. Closures, construction and hours change. Check the state DOT or tourism page, or call the number on the listing, before you plan a stop.

How do I report a closed rest area or fix a listing?

Call or text 629-259-2081 with the rest area's name, the interstate and mile marker, the official state page, and what needs to change. There is no online form. You don't have to pay for a featured spot to send a correction.
